Director of Infrastructure Engineering Full Time (Remote)

Parity Technologies builds core infrastructure for blockchains and Web 3.0 technologies. This means dealing with P2P networking, consensus algorithms, cryptography, databases, and decentralised applications. We strive to write the fastest, lightest, and safest core technology in Blockchain and write lots of open-source code.

At Parity Technologies, we have built and launched live networks like Kusama and Polkadot atop the Substrate blockchain framework. We want to bring to these networks first-class, end-to-end user experiences, showing how easy it is to use these next-generation blockchains.

As the Infrastructure Engineering team rapidly grows, we seek a dedicated Director of Infrastructure Engineering. This person will work in a close partnership with the Director of Core Engineering, as well as the Infrastructure Engineering team leads. The successful candidate  will support team leads in expanding their teams, and drive and execute strategic technical projects.

Impact Areas:

• Directly support the development of the Infrastructure Engineering team leads
• Take an active role in building high-performing, empowered teams and coaching/mentoring internal talents to accelerate their growth
• Coordinate & facilitate communication between all infra teams ensuring clear information alignment across these orgs.
• Communicate and Collaborate with other multiple departments like marketing, ecosystems, developer relation etc
• Exceptional people leader:, agreeing and setting clear expectations with team leads
• Oversee and manage projects, roadmaps, and strategic decisions
• Align individual, team and organizational goals,
• Ensure project/product statuses and action steps are clearly communicated and provided to all stakeholders
• Influence the overall roadmap and strategy of the Infrastructure Engineering department
• Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to engineering processes, tools, and procedures
• Lead cross-department collaboration
• Represent the Infrastructure Engineering team in leadership meetings

Essential skills:

• Proven experience in leading technical teams and effectively interacting with stakeholders in cross-functional setups
• Technical background as an engineering manager is a requirement but having broad and deep knowledge of infrastructure is a nice to have
• Systemic, Logical and Analytical thinking ability
• Have in depth engineering knowledge to comunicate between team leads
• Operate competently in the unknown and advocate for the teams
• Solve problems and build scalable solutions
• Ability to work independently and deliver results with little supervision
• Excellent organisation and time management skills; ability to prioritise tasks across multiple projects
• Experience supporting global remote teams at scale
• Proven ability to quickly learn new and complex topics
• Comfortable working in a high-growth environment that’s constantly changing
• Passionate about blockchain technologies and bringing a decentralized web to the world
• Familiarity with software engineering and open source software culture
• Fundamental understanding of software development methodologies, values, and processes
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication
