About the Role & Team 

We will consider candidates at all experience levels. This is a fully remote role and we will consider applicants based throughout the world.

The team is responsible for Kraken’s trading products and services, taking ideas from concept to release, and ensuring they deliver superior user experience and performance when operating at scale 24/7. Our global clients range from individual traders and enthusiasts to the largest and most sophisticated institutions, who use our mobile and web (Kraken Pro) and API platforms to trade spot, margin, derivative and staking products across some of the most cutting edge digital assets. We tackle both strategic, greenfield projects into new business lines like custody and expansion into other asset classes, as well as continuous and relentless improvement of existing products and systems. For over 10 years we’ve been operating one the crypto industry’s most secure, liquid, fast and diverse marketplaces, and you’ll help take it to the next level.

We’re looking for product talent with experience and expertise in any of the following areas:

• Mobile or web trading platforms
• Electronic trading systems (CLOB, OTC, multilateral)
• Modern API design and documentation
• Institutional custody, credit and settlement mechanisms
• Margin, derivatives (futures, options), risk management

Margin Systems Group

The Margin Systems Group is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and operation of the firm’s margin trading, collateralized lending, and exposure monitoring systems. The Margin Systems Group partners with revenue-producing business areas across the firm to provide the underlying infrastructure to support their growing business activities. This group also takes a leading role in the design and implementation of the firm’s risk policies and procedures. The ideal candidate has professional experience with trading and trading products, lending and lending products, market and credit risk theory and practice, a detailed understanding of the transaction processing lifecycle, is data-driven, technically adept and has a proven track record of Product Management achievement. The position requires interaction with a wide variety of internal stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

The successful candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, process-driven environment and be able to adapt and adjust plans on-the-fly. Candidates must possess the ability and willingness to balance consumer needs with business priorities and articulate the rationale behind decisions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, legal, finance, marketing, compliance and other teams to develop and steer product strategy, roadmaps, and business plans
• Intimate knowledge of trading ecosystem participants, their different incentives and constraints
• Perform research and competitive analysis to gain market insights across the industry
• Define and analyze metrics, and iterate quickly to deliver superior UX. Be the ultimate owner of product performance and business impact.
• Work closely with customers and key stakeholders to define and develop detailed product and business requirements
• Perform User Acceptance Testing and ensure requirements were understood and implemented as requested
• Evaluate new product opportunities and bring forward proposals for products to engage traders, investors and institutions
• Influence product and technology strategy and direction (roadmap), and product and user experience decision-making
• Manage engagement with customers, internal and external parties
• Evangelize the power of analytics and experimentation in building a data-driven organization
• Write technical PRDs, manage backlogs, and effectively prioritize new features vs. tech debt.
• Develop product documentation including specifications, wireframes, site-maps, and process flows.
• Facilitate communication across all project phases and proactively alert management of changes to scope, timelines and resources
• Ensure proper integration and scalability of shared systems, products and tools

Requirements

• Experience and knowledge of cryptocurrency highly preferred
• Intellectual honesty, curiosity and humility. Desire to build and share expertise.
• Expertise in data gathering and quantitative analysis, preferably including SQL and a language like Python
• Solution oriented, highly-motivated and proactive self-starter with first-principles thinking
• Strong grasp of information architecture and user experience best practices
• Macro-to-micro versatility: strategic mindset coupled with obsessive attention to detail
• Well-rounded interpersonal skills, and experience interacting with diverse personalities
• Outstanding organizational and communication skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities
• Deep understanding of project management principles and best practices
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills
• Prior crypto, trading, gaming or banking experience is preferred
