Senior Enterprise Architect Full Time (Remote)

The Cardano Foundation is the independent, non-profit organization responsible for stewarding the advancement of the public, permissionless blockchain platform Cardano. Our mission is to establish the Cardano blockchain as the future financial and social system of the world for generations to come, driving adoption and facilitating development of the protocol. We aim to de-risk decentralization for regulators and organizations, while also giving the Cardano community the necessary tools and support to leverage the Cardano protocol to solve real world problems.

Based in Switzerland, the Foundation works to facilitate the use of Cardano in mission critical applications across a wide range of industries and markets, anchoring use cases in the off-line world and encouraging active on-chain participation and governance.

What You’ll Be Doing:

We are seeking a Senior Architect with decent experience in the DeFi or Blockchain business. The role will focus on the design of enterprise grade blockchain applications and frameworks.

The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge about blockchain technology, established standards, cryptography, design of enterprise grade software systems, Cardano specific ledger-, network- and consensus technology as well as a general overview over other blockchain implementations. Hands-on software development skills in Java and a solid overview of existing frameworks are a must. Also, knowledge of DevOps frameworks and architecting principles is mandatory.

We are looking for a senior Enterprise Architect who is eager to learn and willing to leave a footprint in sustainable software development.

• Research and design blockchain interoperability solutions which includes layer-2 scaling systems, network-bridges and lead our activities to increase Cardano’s interoperability with other blockchain networks.
• Responsible for analyzing and designing software solutions that build on blockchain technology and work closely with the DevOps teams to present a feasible deployment architecture.
• Contribute to the definition and implementation of high quality software development processes and standards.
• Support our outsourcing activities by evaluating proposals and deliverables and support the project management in.
• Research new developments and exchange with the community to leverage the latest technology and constantly improve the software we build.
• Contribute to our Open-Source repositories and get in contact with the community.

What We Look For In You:

• In-depth knowledge about blockchain technology, established standards, cryptography, design of enterprise grade software systems, distributed and decentralized applications.
• Solid know how about Cardano specific smart contract development using Plutus.
• Decent Java programming and DevOps skills, preferably using Terraform and other Infrastructure-as-a-Service platforms and Kubernetes based deployments.
• Proven track record of successfully implemented projects in the role of an Enterprise or Software Architect in the finance, DeFi or blockchain domain.
• Hands-on software development skills and a solid overview of existing frameworks.
• You are open, kind and respectful of others’ opinions, as well as act with integrity when engaging in academic or technical discussions.
• Proficient English language and communication skills.
• Self motivated, independent and well organized. Someone who works well on her own and with a team.

Nice To Have:

• In-depth Cardano specific knowledge about applied cryptography methods, the consensus and networking protocols as well as the staking and reward mechanisms
